Bienvenido Cruz y Díaz: Father of Presidential Candidate Stories Don’t Add Up

The father of presidential candidate Ted Cruz is Rafael Bienvenido Cruz y Díaz who was born March 22, 1932 in the small coastal town of Matanzas, Cuba.  Born the son of Rafael Cruz Sr. and Laudelina Diaz Cruz,  Rafael Jr. was born 4 years following the exile of  both his parents from Spain who were exiled out of Spain as Communists at the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1935. At the time of their exile Rafael Sr. was employed by the Radio Corporation of America also known as RCA and was considered a specialist in radio and radar.  Fleeing to Cuba gave the Cruz couple a new life away from the Franco fascist government supported by Adolph Hitler. There was a price on both their heads and they both knew where to go and that was to follow their fellow Communists to Cuba.
